First Day of 3rd Year
The first item on the notice was regarding the KTDI hostel. As the number of students increase throughout the years, this expansion brought about insufficient hostel rooms to house all the students, thus resulting in the need to accomplish merits to be able to stay in the hostel KTDI, or risk having to stay in the out of college in Laman Midah or Prisma Cheras. The recent increase in status of college hostels to be on par with faculty has lead to improvements of facilities and a new system of merits to compete to stay inside the KTDI hostel.
The second item was the introduction of the JAKSA, which is the organization involve in hostel matters. It was a bried introduction of their organization and their committee members and they were on their recruitment drive to attract future potential committee members of JAKSA, plus some regulations on the parking in KTDI hostel.
The last item in the briefing was on the PPD module for the 3rd year. This briefing was made so that the students are clear of what they are to face and experience throughout the year, including their postings blocks.
Finally, a movie with PPD theme was shown and the students watched "Something The Lord Made". After that, the medical student could leave the auditorium and have their own free time to pack or unpack, or do anything they wanted to.
And lastly, a reminder to all 3rd year Medical Students that they are supposed to meet up at the lobby of Blok Pendidikan by 7.30am. Thank you!
A New Place, A New Start
Briefing and PPD Camp
All 3rd year Medical Students are required to be at the auditorium for briefing on the 12th May 2008 (Today) at 2.00pm.
PPD Camp will start on the 13th May 2008 (Tomorrow) in Kuala Kangsar, Perak. Expect a long journey north then.

There will be a medical books sales at the corridor of the library on the 3rd floor. Since there will be a lot of medical books that we would be needing, here is a good spot to at least browse through if you feel like buying your own new books. Otherwise, you can just buy from there since it is going to be cheaper with 50-70% discounts. I'm not really sure what type of medical books are sold there, whether it is 2nd hand or what, so you can head there to have a look yourself!

ATTENTION: To all 3rd Year Medical Students
However, there seems to be no glitches and the resitters were able to register themselves into the hostel. Any updates will be posted soon.
On a side note, everyone seems to arrive as early as 6.00am despite the fact that the registration starts at 8.00am. However, it was very fortunate as only a few of such unfortunate people who would rather wait for at least an hour or two just to get their hostel rooms of choice. The crowd only started to appear around 7.30am, as the office started their operation at around 8.30am. The registration for KTDI residents had to register on the 2nd floor of the KTDI facility center while the those staying in Laman Midah and Prisma Perdana had the luxury of doing their registration on the ground floor. Of course, those who are queuing for KTDI registration had the sauna of their life and nothing else matters despite the sweat and stink.

Special thanks to Jeffrey for his dedicated contribution in the Internal Medicine aspect which I hope will benefit even more medical students in the future.
That being said, yet we are still not yet satisfied with our manpower. Sharing is caring, and we are all here to complete each other. So, why not if there are even hundreds of contributors? We wouldn't mind if every reader could be a contributor here, wherever you are. n_n
Basic Requirement:
- Medical Doctors or Medical Students

- Happy and not grumpy.
- Have some free time to spare for us.

The hostels' view
Car park zone K on a day when there are not many students. Usually is packed till double parking occurs.
For those who might be staying outside, there are two apartments which you might stay in, whether it is Laman Midah(students stay mainly there) or Prisma Perdana. Both are rather near as they are just behind the KTDI hostels. It is around 100m from the apartment to the back entrance to KTDI hostel. There is a guard house at the back entrance although the security isn't that tight as many people were passing there freely at daytime.
The small lane on the left side of the photo is where you will walk to and fro the apartments. Do note the small building with a red rooftop at the bottom of the photo is the guardhouse. The white square building on the right is a sewage facility which smell foul if you are looking from the top but does not pose any problem if you walk beside it. The red apartment on the top right is Laman Midah. This photo is taken from top view just outside the facility center of KTDI. Not shown in the photo is the Prisma Perdana apartment which is just further right of the photo. It is nearer to the back entrance as the apartment's main entrance is nearer while Laman Midah's main entrance is on the other side of the road.
A proper view of Laman Midah apartment from the Facility Center in KTDI.
Opposite the road, there are food stalls catering from Chinese to Malay cuisine. Most were not opened at that time when I walk around there, so I deduced that they are open at night.
I hope my photos help in orientating everyone about the 'outer hostel' for HUKM. Also take note that outside apartment caters for 6 in a 3-room apartment ( 3-2-1). Beds, tables and chairs are provided, from what I had heard.
At the time being, the list of names of students staying out or inside KTDI has been finalized by JAKSA. The list should be out tomorrow (8th May 2008). From what I had heard, it is estimated that there are 63 single rooms available for males and 118 single rooms available for females. So, all the best to all.
(Updated 7th May) Important: KTDI Parking Rules and Regulations
A few rules and regulations had been summed up by the security office regarding the parking regulations including those in KTDI, which are as follows:
First and foremost:
After 15th May, the parking lots in KTDI are only meant for students, with the car sticker for zone K.
Any car sticker other than K would not be allowed to park in college area at all. As there are misuse of the car sticker zone J, UKMMC's side would change the car sticker for students to be zone K. This car sticker will only be limited to STUDENTS who OWNS and DRIVES a CAR into the college. Students who are not driving into the college (and park as well) are requested not to apply the stickers for your friends or family members as the parking lots are extremely limited and the car stickers will only be produced according to the number of parking lots available.
Announcement would be made as soon as the car stickers are ready.
Secondly:
There are a few areas gazetted as no-parking zone which includes:
(i) area without yellow parking lot boxes, even if it is by the roadside. Students who owns a car are requested to make use of the available yellow boxes. Failure to abide by the rules would result in the issuance of summonses. A grace period of 2 weeks would be given for everyone to obey the law, and any offence done thereafter would result in the usage of wheel clamps.
(ii) area beside the surau and the house of the Principal of College
The area mentioned is nearby C block, starting from the bottom to the top. No-parking signs would be erected in this area, other than for the staff parking.
(iii) area behind block B, starting from just beside the motorcycle parking lots up till the top. This area needs to be emptied and gazetted as a lane for fire engine only. (Please refer to the parking plan shown on the notice board- uploaded in this post below.)
Thirdly,
There are concerns regarding the difficulty for parents to visit their children in college as only cars with parking stickers can be allowed into the college area. To solve this, all students will be issued a "visitor's pass" to be given to their parents who would like to visit their children. Parents who drives in with the pass shall be permitted to drive into the college area. This pass can be obtained at the college's office.
Fourthly,
For those who are taking a taxi, students are advised to show their matrix card to the security guard and they will allow taxi to send you into the college. This is to prevent the students from being taken action by the security personnel. All students are requested to obey the regulations stated. If there is any problems, you can refer to the YDP JAKSA. They will be glad to hear or help you.
Please spread the news.

Updated 7th May 2008:
While the K Zone Sticker had not been issued, students who have the HUKM student car sticker will have to make do to park within the J zone car park. Please refer to the blueprint below, and you can click to enlarge.
For the visitor pass, it is for sure that each student staying inside will be issued a visitor pass, with the student's particulars printed on the back of the visitor pass including name and matric number.
